Each year, we typically find ourselves returning to a campground up Hobble Creek Canyon out of Springville called Jolley's Ranch. This year was no different. It offers great amenities that provide fun for all ages: Open fields, frisbee golf course, horseshoes, a creek, and a playground among others.
After work, I picked up Lennox and off we went to join the guys. We had a hot dog dinner and followed that up with some time out on the playground.
On the way back from the playground, Lennox couldn't resist the urge to throw a few rocks into the creek. (See video)
Upon returning to camp, we sat down to the fire and did the traditional marshmallow roast and s'mores.
For bed, I wanted to try Lennox out in a hammock and see how he would do. Setting them up attracted much attention and interest from the others in our group. I let Lennox have my DIY hammock which has a full bug net zipped onto it and double-layer fabric for holding a sleeping pad or other insulation.
I recently picked up a Grand Trunk Ultralight for a variety of reasons. I wanted to test out an under-quilt I made with an emergency blanket. The temperature never got too cold, so it all worked out quite well for me.

Lennox seemed to sleep well for a couple hours before waking up in the middle of the night and was apparently a bit claustrophobic or otherwise uncomfortable. At that point I laid him in a little youth tent I had set up where he slept well the rest of the way.
We woke up to a bit of a sprinkle, but nothing too bad. Most everyone was pretty quick to pack up and head back home or to other commitments they had for their Saturday.
Likewise, we did the same.
